RwandAir orders two CRJ900s

Kigali-based RwandAir has signed a firm order for two Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, plus two options, making it the first CRJ900 operator in eastern Africa. The contract is valued at approximately $89 million based on list prices and would increase to $185 million if both options are exercised, Bombardier said in a statement.
“Our two 50-seat CRJ200 aircraft have performed very well for us and have helped grow our business to the point that we require aircraft with more capacity,” said RwandAir CEO John Mirenge. “Based on our experience with the CRJ200 aircraft, the dual-class 75-seat CRJ900 NextGen aircraft was the logical upgrade.”
The airline will configure the CRJ900s with seven business-class seats and 68 economy seats.
