Frankfurt Airport (FRA) faces another strike this week by apron workers, represented by the German GdF union, after talks concerning wages failed late Friday. The strike, which follows a five-day intermittent strike that began Feb. 16, resumed Sunday night and is expected to continue until Thursday morning.
A Lufthansa spokesman told the airline has canceled about 140 flights Monday and expects to cancel the same number Tuesday.
The LH spokesperson said 80% of all LH flights will operate. “All intercontinental flights will operate as normal. Nevertheless, it is a big effort for us to handle this number of flights,” he said.
The GdF union, which represents 200 apron workers, is demanding double-digit wage increases from airport operator Fraport.
LH said the first four days of the strike has cost high double-digit million euros in turnover.
FRA operator Fraport said Monday morning it expects to cancel 148 out of 1,286 flights.
