Indian carrier GoAir has signed a firm order for 144 Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engines at the Singapore Airshow Wednesday. The engines will power its 72 A320neo aircraft ordered at the Paris Air Show in June .
The deal is “anticipated” to include a PureSolution maintenance package, P&W said.
"We selected the Pratt & Whitney PurePower engine because we are confident that its performance advantage will deliver significant savings in operating costs, as well as considerable reductions in emissions and noise," GoAir MD Jeh Wadia said. “The PurePower engine is the best long-term solution for GoAir’s growing fleet.”
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2016.
"All of us at Pratt & Whitney are delighted that GoAir has selected the PurePower engine to power its Airbus A320neo fleet and we look forward to providing GoAir with the benefits of this game changing technology," P&W Commercial Engines and Global Services president Todd Kallman said. “Being chosen by another key low-cost carrier in India—one of the fastest growing markets—is another testament to the game-changing benefits our Geared Turbofan technology delivers.”
GoAir launched operations in November 2005 and operates 21 destinations in India with approximately 160 daily flights.
