Iberia pilots continue their strike action

Iberia (IB) pilots, represented by the SEPLA pilot union, are unyielding in their protest against the creation of Iberia Express, the new short- and medium-haul low-cost subsidiary of IB, and will call strikes again on Feb. 24 and Feb. 29 as previously announced.

Pilots also went on strike last Monday, forcing IB to cancel 121 flights. This was the 10th work stoppage in two months. Some minority unions representing ground staff and cabin crew joined in the industrial action.
IB said 107 flights will be canceled Feb. 24 and 131 flights on Feb. 29 due to the strike action. This represents 34% and 38%, respectively, of its total flight schedule on these days.
