Cessna signs landmark deal with China's AVIC

Cessna business jets could be coming to the region from China in the future.
Chinese aircraft manufacturer Avic has signed two far-reaching cooperation agreements with the Kansas, US, company in a move that further underpins China’s push to bolster its aerospace portfolio.
Analysts suggest that this will lead to production of some of Cessna’s aircraft in China through a joint venture between the two companies and the Chengdu government. They suggest the Chinese production facility would cover a new aircraft as well as the mid-size Cessna business jets
“China’s market potential is tremendous and therefore represents an exciting opportunity for Cessna,” said Cessna CEO Scott Ernest. “China recognises general aviation offers the foundation to support its national air transportation needs for the future.”
China’s ABACE show – the Asian equivalent to MEBA – takes place in Shanghai next week
