Bogota-based AviancaTaca Holding, parent of Avianca, TACA, Aerogal and Tampa Cargo, reported passenger boardings were up 16% to 5.5 million in the first quarter. ASKs grew 13.8%. Consolidated numbers show a 23.5% growth at the domestic markets of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. International boardings were up 7.5%, to 2.4 million passengers.
The group reported 2011 net income of $109 million, more than tripling a net profit of $33 million in 2010.
