Turkish Airlines (TK), which has been in negotiations with LOT Polish Airlines about buying a stake in the airline, is close to finalizing a decision.
“Within one month from now, TK will decide if the investment in LOT will happen or not,” a TK spokesperson in Istanbul confirmed to.
CEO Temel Kotil told previously that TK, which is based out of Istanbul Ataturk, is looking to expand beyond one hub. “It has been proven … that a multi-hub system can work (for TK),” he said, adding that if TK decides to invest in LOT, then IST and Warsaw could operate as a dual hub system. TK would also restructure LOT. “Everything LOT needs from us, we can help,” Kotil added.
Kotil told in January that TK is targeting 38 million passengers and $8 billion in 2012.
