Lufthansa (LH) has taken delivery of its first Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental, which will fly to its permanent home base in Frankfurt May 1.
Boeing said it will host a special flyaway celebration with senior executives from both companies that day. LH will then host a special celebration when the airplane arrives in Frankfurt May 2.
According to Boeing, the 747-8I, powered by GE Aviation's GEnx-2B engines, will bring double-digit improvements in fuel burn and emissions over its predecessor, the 747-400, while generating 30% less noise.
