CTS Engines opens first full-service independent service center in the US

CTS Engines has opened a 60,000 sq. ft. engine service center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which chairman and CEO Brian Neff dubbed the first full-service independent engine MRO in the US.
“The US is the No. 1 MRO market in the world at about 42% of the entire market—$19 billion dollars—and within the entire market there’s not a full-service independent engine MRO until today,” Neff told.
The facility includes 10 full-service engine bays with gantries, full cleaning and FPI capabilities, weld shop, plasma booth, coordinate measuring machine, a high-speed blade tip grinder, vertical machining center, horizontal and vertical balancing machines, bearing room and gearbox room. It can perform approximately 70% of all repair services in-house. The facility employs approximately 50 workers.
Neff told he sees the potential for CTS to be the “go to” independent engine MRO. “We’re really in the right location, we’re in the right market,” he said.
The new facility is part of a previously announced $25 million capital expansion program, under which CTS will also open two high thrust engine test stands in Jupiter, Fla.
CTS was acquired in August 2010 by Neff Capital Management—a Miami-based private equity firm founded in January 2010 by Neff, former president of Southern Air.
