Garuda Indonesia (GA) and Taiwan’s China Airlines (CI) have signed a memorandum of understanding to broaden GA’s network and offer customers of both airlines a wider choice of destinations.
“Of course, the agreement will reinforce [the codeshare] cooperation that already exists between our two companies” GA president and CEO Emirsyah Satar said.
The codeshare agreement covers the following routes: Taipei (TPE)-Jakarta, TPE-Denpasar, TPE-Singapore-Surabaya and the return routes. The cooperation will be further developed to include other destinations, such as Dubai, Los Angeles, Calif. and San Francisco, Calif.
CI president Huang-Hsiang Sun said he hopes the agreement will enable both airlines to improve their services as well as create opportunities for the companies’ future growth. “Garuda’s success in carrying its business transformation truly reflects its readiness to join SkyTeam,” he said. The carrier is expected to become a full member of the alliance this year.
