Romania’s Aerostar doubles MRO capacity

Romanian aerospace company Aerostar will double its MRO capacity with the imminent opening of a new hangar.
The company, which holds Part 145 approvals for the Boeing 737, Airbus A320 and BAe 146/Avro RJ families, will open the new 5,000 sq. m. facility at its Bacau base in northeast Romania within the next few weeks, according to Aerostar director aviation MRO Ovidiu Buhai.
Speaking at the Airline Purchasing & Maintenance Expo in London, he said the new building would accommodate four bays for narrowbody or regional airliners. Aerostar already has a similarly sized hangar in operation.
Buhai said Aerostar was “looking to capture an increasing number of new customers and also to diversify into other aircraft types for which we can supply MRO services.”
He added that, since carrying out its first C check on a 737 in December 2004, Aerostar has completed more than 200 C and D checks for more than 20 airlines.
