Transaero receives first Internet-equipped 777-300

Russia’s Transaero Airlines (UN) has taken delivery of its first Boeing 777-300 equipped with inflight Internet. The aircraft, which was previously operated by Singapore Airlines, will be outfitted with Lumexis IFE. UN said in a statement the onboard Wi-Fi will be available for passengers in a couple of weeks when it receives FAA certification.
In March, UN CEO Olga Pleshakova said the carrier will spend $30 million to equip 38 out of its 75 aircraft with the new technology.
UN, the second largest Russian airline, carried 8.4 million passengers in 2011, a 27.2% increase over 2010. The carrier operates 20 Boeing 747s, 13 777s, 14 767s, 31 737s and three Tupolev Tu-214s.
