German airports face strike action Tuesday

Germany’s airports will face disruptions and flight cancellations Tuesday due to a public sector strike across Germany affecting ground handling and transportation staff.
Passengers will likely experience delays at Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne/Bonn, Munich and Stuttgart airports. Berlin airports could also be affected.
Munich airport would be affected by the strike from 5:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. local time; Cologne from midnight and 10 a.m. local time; Stuttgart from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. local time; Frankfurt from 5 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and Dusseldorf from 4 a.m. to noon local time.
Germany’s Verdi trade union called for the strike over a pay dispute before a March 28 negotiation meeting. The union wants a 6.5% increase for Germany’s 2 million public sector employees this year.
Lufthansa expects to cancel 120 domestic and Intra-European flights as well 15 long-haul services.
